Face to face
The choice of support was not trivial: a canvas made by the artist's aunt Christine Barone. Her aunt didn't like it, she found it shabby and wanted to throw it away. For Christine all “failures” are useful because, as she likes to say, “successes need failures to exist”.
Christine first tried to make an abstract painting. New failure. She didn't give up and covered her in black.
The roughness of the previous layers of paint, in thickness, stood out. This canvas therefore called for the material. An experiment was born, a face to face with itself and matter, which is not visible at first glance. If we look closely, two faces appear. A face to face with the inside and the outside, with in the center, this thick material which could represent the being which separates these two worlds, with its cracks.
