At first it was only a personal challenge: to produce a full and realistic portrait.
But artist Christine Barone couldn't bring herself to paint a "simply beautiful" portrait.
He needed something else or something more.
The scars took hold.
Metaphor for these wounds that we have inside ourselves.
Faults, imperfections, differences.
Make the intangible concrete by bringing them to the surface, without taking away anything from our beauty.
This portrait marks the beginning of the “On the Surface” series.
