Expansion
Third work in a series which seeks to express the anxieties, the questions, the doubts, the beginnings of answers in our relationship to the world.
This seeks to express the regaining of self-control in relation to the world. As an acceptance, we make the outside world our own. This happens smoothly like paint that invades black, lava flows peacefully. A new color appears in this work, purple which, with very small touches, seems to initiate the movement. This color is the symbol of fullness. But what will we do with all these obstacles symbolized by this mass of nails, reliefs, gauze or VHS tapes which evoke the media? Will we be able to integrate them, to smooth them out? Or will we always be in conflict?
Collage is a liberating medium for the artist Christine Barone, when she wishes to express sensations, inner and violent feelings; when words and figurative forms are no longer sufficient, when they confine and reduce one's intuition.
Freed from concepts, preconceived images and all judgment, the material, mixed with color, becomes cathartic expression.
